Since our initial presence in the UK in 2003, we have achieved significant milestones. These include pioneering biomass-fuelled power in 2007, which led to us shutting down the last of our coal-fired boilers at our Wilton Power Station in 2014, ahead of the Government’s 2015 commitment to phase out coal over the next 10 years.
In 2016, our energy-from-waste facility came online, diverting 440,000 tonnes of landfill waste per year.
In 2018, our operations expanded across the UK with rapid-response energy generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS). In 2019, our first 60MWh BESS came online across three sites, doubling in 2022, and now stands at 120MWh.
We are continuing to grow our energy portfolio in the UK, which enables us to lend critical support in ensuring the stability and resilience of the country's power supply, in pace with the nation's energy transition journey.
