Sembcorp Sustainability Fair at Jurong-Clementi Town 2023

Residents of Jurong-Clementi Town had a glimpse of Sembcorp’s various business functions recently when we held a Sustainability Fair at The Canopy @ J-Link on 11 March 2023.

Featuring our sustainable solutions across energy, water, waste and carbon management, visitors were able to learn about the SolarNova programme, our smart Rebottle recycling initiative, as well as our renewable energy and carbon management solution GoNetZero™.

Jurong-Clementi Town is part of the SolarNova 7 programme with an estimated total solar PV capacity of 21MWp to be installed across HDB blocks, schools and government sites within the town. Solar energy harnessed from the rooftop solar panels will be used to power common services in the estate such as lifts, lightings and water pumps. This not only helps HDB blocks achieve net-zero energy consumption for common areas, but helps town council moderate increases in maintenance fees as well.

We deployed a solar array to power our event with green energy and allow visitors to learn how we harness solar energy. We even brought our robot cleaner to demonstrate how it cleans solar panels autonomously, thus reducing manpower required for the job.

Jobseekers and graduating students from Institutes of Higher Learning also visited the fair to find out what a career in the sustainability industry entails. Our colleagues across different departments shared their personal stories during a roundtable discussion and engaged interested jobseekers at our exhibition booths. Suitable candidates were interviewed onsite while some others submitted their application through our online portals.

Visitors also took part in our quiz by answering simple questions about Sembcorp to redeem freebies, snacks and coffee!
