Official Launch of Sembcorp Solar Singapore SkillsFuture Queen Bee Programme

Sembcorp Solar Singapore has been appointed as a SkillsFuture Queen Bee (SFQB), the first in the Energy and Power sector. Over the next three years, Sembcorp Solar will collaborate with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to fulfil more than 1,800 training places and provide mentorship for over 40 proof-of-concept projects focused on solar energy in Singapore.
We were honoured to have Mr Shawn Huang, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, speak on the need for industry partnerships and workforce upskilling in the renewable energy sector. He emphasised that with Singapore's clean energy workforce projected to grow by 80% by 2032, initiatives like the SFQB Programme are vital for aligning workforce skills with industry demands and fostering innovation in the solar sector.

An event highlight was the presentation of the SFQB agreement between Mr Tan Kok Yam, Chief Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore and Ms Jen Tan, Head of Renewables Business (Singapore and Indonesia), Sembcorp Industries. Witnessing this was our Guest of Honour, Mr Shawn Huang, Mr Robert Chong, Chief Corporate and Human Resource Officer, Sembcorp Industries and Mr Koh Chiap Khiong, CEO (Singapore and Southeast Asia), Sembcorp Industries.
The audience also tuned in to different speakers who shared more about the SQFB programme.
Guests were invited to tour the Proof-of-Concept exhibits, to learn about some innovations in solar energy technology aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainability.
The event concluded with a networking lunch, providing opportunities for the guests to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations.
