Sembcorp Highlights at Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2024
October 25, 2024
We were pleased to return to Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2024 as the Presenting Partner of SIEW Energy Showcase.
In line with the theme for this year, a Connected and Sustainable Energy World, we engaged in a host of initiatives to mark recent business milestones where we collaborated with esteemed partners to advance developments in green hydrogen and energy storage, showcased our expertise in energy solutions at our exhibition booths, and had our Sembcorp thought leaders share their insights at various panel discussions.
Reinforcing our leading position in energy
At Sembcorp, our purpose is to drive energy transition. To this end, we have been actively collaborating to deliver best-in-class projects, advancing the development of low-carbon alternatives to support the decarbonisation of the industry.
During the week of SIEW, we signed a joint development agreement with PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia for a green hydrogen production facility in Sumatra, Indonesia, capable of producing 100,000 metric tonnes per annum. This regional hydrogen hub connecting Sumatra, the Riau Islands and Singapore is expected to be Southeast Asia’s largest green hydrogen development initiative.
We also announced a project with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore to pilot the country’s first battery stacking solution on land, at our existing Sembcorp Energy Storage System on Jurong Island – one of Asia’s largest battery storage systems.

At SIEW2024, discussions around the theme sparked insightful conversations on the many pathways to achieving a successful energy transition. Each session highlighted the collaborative efforts needed to create a cleaner, more resilient energy future.
Our leaders shared perspectives on the complexity of the energy transition and the importance of dialogue across multiple fronts—such as the role of LNG within a balanced portfolio, advancing green technology and harmonised standards, and embracing inclusivity for a just transition. Through these conversations, we endeavour to spur collective action towards a low-carbon future.
Creating a robust ecosystem of energy collaborators
Our comprehensive global energy solution portfolio and strong operational capabilities were showcased in an interactive exhibition for event VIPs and industry partners.
GoNetZero™, a carbon management business of Sembcorp Industries, presented VIPs with Certifications of Retirement of carbon credits as a welcome gift. The Certifications of Retirement, specific to each receiving guest, offset the estimated equivalent Scope 3 emissions incurred for their travels to Singapore.
Our Sembcorp sites were also bustling with activity as we hosted various groups of VIPs from SIEW, including delegations from Egypt, Oman, Tanzania and Hong Kong over the course of the week at our sites in Jurong Island and Tengeh Solar Floating Farm.

Celebrating the spirit of partnership
We had the pleasure of engaging with our industry partners and colleagues at Sembcorp Connect 2024. This marks the second year we've hosted this networking session during SIEW - bringing together over 250 industry leaders, partners, and colleagues to foster meaningful discussions about a connected and sustainable energy future.
