Exploration of low-carbon fuels – ammonia and hydrogen
The introduction of low-carbon fuels like ammonia and hydrogen is crucial for the decarbonisation of existing gas plants. We actively explore these solutions through strategic partnerships such as:
- Signing of Heads of Terms with Sojitz Corporation and Kyushu Electric for large-scale green ammonia production in India, for export to Japan
- Being shortlisted by the Energy Market Authority and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore to provide low- or zero-carbon ammonia solution for power generation and bunkering on Jurong Island in Singapore
- Joint development study agreement with PT PLN (Persero) to assess the feasibility of green hydrogen production in Indonesia for export to Singapore
- MOU with Gentari to explore the development of hydrogen production facilities and transportation from Malaysia to Singapore
As the first commercial and retailer of natural gas and one of the largest importers of natural gas into Singapore, we can provide low-carbon feedstock as an alternative fuel or as a blend with natural gas. We are well-positioned to act as a future hydrogen offtaker for power generation, industrial supply, or bunkering. We will continue to leverage our gas and renewable energy expertise to participate in opportunities across the green hydrogen and ammonia value chain.
